There was a time when I used to be obsessed with make up. Don't get me wrong, I still indulge in the occasional Sephora haul, maybe a little too heavily where I have to debate whether I should afford rent or look cute. Being a blogger doesn't help with the hoarding either.
After last year's humbling fight with acne, it changed my whole perspective on beauty all together. I found myself at the lowest point in a really long time -- all because I was lazy to take care of myself and create a healthy lifestyle for my skin. I found out I was developing cystic acne, which is the kind that is deeply rooted beneath the skin and is essentially an infection. Luckily, it wasn't too bad where I couldn't cover it with a full coverage foundation/concealer. However, putting make up on to hide it made it even worse, so I bit the bullet many times to just leave my skin alone for awhile.
Anyways, even after a year and a half since my first breakout... my skin is still in recovery mode. The scars are still visible, remnants of a time where self neglect turned into a tumultuous fight to get my confidence back. Your skin and your health is everything, bottom line. This was a lesson I learned from this.
I also learned that having a consistent routine, due diligence with the ingredients + products that goes on my skin, slowly rehabilitating a clean lifestyle, and committing to making those changes were the things that salvaged my face back - although very slowly.
I wanted to share a handful of products that I've incorporated into my skincare routine in the morning. I'm working on uploading a nigh time routine. Watch here.
