I wish I was a more experienced vintage shopper because the stores in LA are to die for. It almost makes you want to stop buying newly manufactured clothing. I now know why vintage fashionistas have that je ne sais quoi touch, there's than meets the eye with vintage pieces - almost like putting together art. I can't believe how much I've been missing out on. Back in NYC, Brooklyn was the place to scout for timeless pieces, but nowhere does it like Melrose Ave, especially for the price. This suede fringe jacket from the 70s is the ultimate score, it's vintage Saint Laurent that I got for $75. I wonder who owned this before me and made just the right about of fades on the suede for it to be this dope! Hallulujah. Here are a few of my favorite places to treasure hunt:
Melrose Trading Post
American Rebel
Decades
Weltenbuerger (Los Feliz)
Vintage Vortex
Silver Lining (Culver City)
If you're really serious about vintage - check out this event called A Current Affair. It's a vintage convention, so called, that happens in LA and NYC. The next show in LA is Dec 12th - go check it out peeps!
