Having spent most of my New York years in Midtown and a couple years near Gramercy Park, I've relocated to the Lower East Side -- most uptowners voyage here for the eclectic bars, quirky boutiques, and scrumptious eateries. I hate to use the word "up and coming", because honestly everything in NYC is up and coming when prices rise through the roof for just about everything. Being new to the neighborhood makes living in NYC that much more exciting again (as my exuberance for the city was starting to become rather.. well... flaccid.)
A long list of restaurants and cute vintage and designer boutiques are anticipating their permanent damage to my wallet. Street fashion here is on another level. I'd say it's a nice change from suits and summer dresses. My go to spot to work is now Why Not Cafe (gallery/cafe -- how sick is that?) -- every now and then my head peeks over my laptop to take a look at passerbys who really know how to work that effortless hipster chic look. Designer goods paired with one of a kind vintage pieces. I swear all they needed was a touch of crip walk and they'd be 100% swag.
BTW, Lady Gaga and I now share the same yoga instructor. So that ups my cool factor by like 4million%. I hope she accepts my friend request soon. Check out Bikram Lower East Side for a sweet and sweaty work out.
