Urban Betsy is officially one year's old! We've come a long way...
Remember the Time-Turner Professor McGonagall gave to Hermione so that she could time travel to attend two classes at the same time? Yes. That is indeed what I need in my life right now. Even more so than the ability to manage time effectively. Truthfully, I've metamorphosed into a hermit. Balancing work (I'm now freelancing at Gilt Groupe), my company, and classes, I've sadly begun to neglect the other fine things in my life --i.e. my beloved blog and more importantly, my beloved readers... They say the most painful lost is the lost of relevancy. I kid. Don't take my poor attempt at an excuse as a complaining.

Between my last post and now, Winnie and I have been planning the launch of Odette & Co. I can't begin to tell you how exciting it is to have our creations come to life piece by piece. We're finalizing our sample-making process and making connects, so definitely keep an eye out for our published look book out early 2014!
---Some 411 on the fashion industry---
H&M and Isabel Marant : Ah the shopping frenzy that converted fashionistas into first time campers and made heavily eye-bagged girls the subject of envy as they strut their prized possession afterwards. The designs well portray the Isabel Marant/casual Parisian aesthetic people fell in love with (oversized sweaters, cropped leather pants, loose knits... bohemian meets rocker) but personally, it's overhyped, overpriced, poorly fabricated, and not worth the stress. I guess no one really cares, because the underlying equation of retail is Good branding + Buzz + Buyer impluse= $$$. If you're somewhat petite, you can still have a wide selection of kids wear offered at the stores right now. Or eBay, if you're looking to experience inflation at its finest.
Jay Z's collaboration with Barney's : The BNY SCC collection launches today!! (Despite the racial profiling ordeal that had many people urging Jay Z to withdraw from this collaboration). Instead of the initially planned 25%, now ALL of the proceeds go towards the Sean Carter Foundation with the pledge to guarantee $1 million. Way to try to redeem yourself, Barney's.
