She Stole My Shirt

A spring look I gotta say should be more prevalent is that "borrowed", oversized button down. Otherwise better known as "the boyfriend shirt" look. If you want to accentuate your feminine curves while maintaining that boyishness, I say buy a boxy cut that's made out of a lighter material (mine's made of silk de chine, it gives off a slight matted shine...pardon my oxymoron), stick to a crisp white color, and keep the detailing at a minimal. This shirt I'm wearing is from Reformation. What's cool about them is that they reuse vintage and surplus materials to create an environmentally sustainable collection. We like brands that aim to save the world.

One more fascination... I've recently been drawn to menswear --finding myself perusing through the men's section more often. I can't tell if it's because women's casual wear has plateaued recently or if it's just because I'm bored...probably both. Men's sweaters, t-shirts, and button downs are just way more fun this season around. Maybe there's some sort of excitement in exploring outside the norm or maybe I'm waiting for there to be more unisex brands. Whatever it is, it's sexy.

I'm Not a Model But I Pose A Lot

First things first, I have to give some major props to models because it's hard posing in front of a camera and actually have it come out nice. I can't help but feel guilty for all the times in high school I spent making fun of the ANTM girls who cried after getting reprimanded by the great Jay Manuel (girls, you know what I'm talking about). Thankfully, I had Lucas and Liang Kuang directing me during the shoot and didn't need to waste a mascara touch up. Story goes, I went to a party one night in a club that Lucas was photographing for and he asked if I wanted to experiment with some fashion shots in the streets. As that is right up my alley, I agreed right away... and had a great time. Check out Lucas's work here (www.lucashuangphotography.com) and Liang Kuang's here

I've worn these silk track pants way too many times lately. I appreciate pants with shape that don't make you look like a million pounds. As for this Sylvia Rielle top, I got it at a boutique called Mint Julep in the Lower East Side. You can't go wrong with a structured top and a flowy bottom.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Jack It Up

A jacket can make or break an outfit. It's the first thing people see, and an attempt at a good first impression. This might explain why 80% of my closet is jackets. Winnie, my very good friend from Winnie&Marcus, is an amazing fashion designer from Parsons; I've borrowed a couple of her leather jackets that she designed to show you that sometimes an outstanding jacket is really all you need. If you don't like to dish out on clothes, invest in those jackets! Here are some cropped pieces to illustrate the contrast between an edgy look vs. a classier look. I'm all about cropped jackets for spring, especially if you're going for a more feminine look.

On a more serious note, my sincere condolences and prayers go out to those in Boston. "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." -Dr.Martin Luther King Jr.

It's a Spring Thing

The warmth of the sun's rays, the sounds of birds taking flight, the pigment of color in every blossom, the bountiful smiles of each passerby. Words can't begin to describe Spring in New York City! I thought I'd take my last chance at wearing all black everything this season around, and instead give attention to the vibrant colors in the air!

It was such a sunny and windy day out, it really helped flare my voluminous outfit! I love pants with shape, but I rolled the Harem Pants to show a little bit of leg so it doesn't make me look too short (these pants don't have to be necessarily only for the longer-legged types). Also, these Harem Pants look great with high heeled sandals (to give you that extra length). I paired it with peep toe booties to add some edge. By the way, The Highline is gorgeous in the spring ... If you haven't checked it out, I definitely recommend taking a stroll. You can enjoy a nice cafe meal or ice cream with Hudson River and Meatpacking backdrop.

Hoodie: Y-3 by Yohji Yamamoto (I love the versatile necklines of this top!) // Harem Pants: Club Monaco // Faux Fur Vest: Zara // Booties: Alexander Wang // Shades: Cassette // Cuff: BCBG by MaxAzria // Watch: Emporio Armani
